Justice Snow’s proudly presents a scorch folk/ old time live music show with Hogan & Moss on Easter Sunday, April 16th at 9pm. This is a no cover show.
“Exhilarating, fun, heartbreaking, wild, toe-tapping, head-nodding, soul searching. By the end, they had made us live an extra year of our lives in a couple of hours.” Navasota Current
“That they once received the Key to the City of El Paso for preservation of American heritage music is no surprise. Live, the band seemed uncorked. Hogan and Moss both look like strumming maniacs, possessed by old time music. It’s as though if you touched them, they might electrocute you, they’re so saturated with energy.” Missoula Independent
“Poetic, exciting, sometimes sad but above all beautiful” Alt Country Forum, Netherlands
“A first-rate show!” No Depression
We play more than 200 shows each year, touring to more than a dozen states. The tour calendar is available at this page’s My Band link and at www.jonhoganmusic.com
We play scorch folk–new old-time country music, Appalachian trad. and original songs, delivered with intensity, drive and speed. Carter Family ballads to feed your soul and full-on corkers blow the doors off your Ford.
Jon Hogan’s arrangements of traditional and old-time country songs were inspired by the 1920s and ’30s recordings of artists such as Dock Boggs, Clarence Ashley, Uncle Dave Macon, the Carter Family, Rutherford & Burnet, Cannon’s Jug Stompers and Fiddlin’ John Carson. Hogan & Moss also perform original music and Hogan’s posthumous co-writes with the late songwriter Blaze Foley. The melodies were commissioned by Blaze’s estate in 2009 from lyrics found among his effects after his death in 1989.
