Americana Music Series Expands in February/March

Justice Snow’s and The Woody Creek Community Center proudly announce the return of the Americana Music Series to Justice Snow’s Restaurant and Bar in downtown Aspen this February, extending into early March.

(Full calendar posted below.)

The band, Hot Eagle, will once again anchor the series. A talented mix of touring artists and local ace musicians, Hot Eagle will perform a different genre of American music every Sunday in February beginning at 9pm (except for one session on Saturday, February 21st). Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, Old Time, Doo-Wop, Motown, Pop and more will be covered. Touring blues band, Toney Rocks, will perform at 9pm on Sunday Feb 22nd.

Justice Snow’s will also host three new musical series come February: Songwriters in The Parlor, Composer in Residence: Trevor Wilson, and Free Music Workshops. Additional live music will be featured during select weekend brunches. “It’s our most ambitious offering of music yet,” said curator and performer Jackson Emmer. “We’re expanding tremendously, with more opportunities for people to connect to both the music and our artists all month long.”

Songwriters in the Parlor performances begin at 5pm on select Wednesdays, with individual members of Hot Eagle performing their original works.

Composer In Residence, Trevor Wilson, will perform on alternate Wednesdays. Wilson is the founder of Brooklyn-based avant-pop group, Anawan, and records for New Amsterdam Records. Wilson has never been to Colorado and will travel the state, writing, recording, and performing a song-cycle based on his experiences of the “Wild West.” All recordings will be made available free online. Wilson’s performances are on Feb 18th, Feb 24th (at Woody Creek Community Center) and Mar 8th.

Lastly, the members of Hot Eagle will entertain brunch patrons with Jazz, New Classical and String Band music during brunch and lunch hours on select Saturdays and Sundays at 12noon. They will also teach free workshops to music students following the brunches on Feb 22nd and Mar 1st. These workshops are free and open to the public.

Hot Eagle features the following musicians:

Jackson Emmer (mandolin, guitars, banjos, harmonica, vocals)

Mike Facey (upright bass, guitar)

Ross Kribbs (violin, vocals)

Alison May (percussion, guitar, vocals)
